Hotel AMANO Covent Garden names General Manager ahead of opening

Hotel AMANO Covent Garden has announced the appointment of Simon Galic as Opening General Manager, ahead of the property’s launch in May of this year.

The brand’s first hotel to open outside of Germany, Hotel AMANO Covent Garden will be located on Drury Lane and comprise 141 bedrooms, as well as being home to a roof terrace, sky bar, restaurant and basement bar.

After studying hospitality management in Bristol and starting his career in Bath, Galic became Operations Manager of the Sherlock Holmes Hotel, part of the Park Plaza Hotel Group, in 2004.

In 2007 he joined Firmdale working at The Pelham Hotel, Haymarket Hotel and finally General Manager of Number Sixteen.

He then moved to The Hoxton as General Manager of The Hoxton Shoreditch in 2015 and Opening General Manager of The Hoxton Southwark Hotel in 2018.

Galic commented: “It is a tremendous honour to launch The AMANO Group’s first hotel outside of Germany. I’m excited to bring the AMANO spirit to life at Hotel AMANO Covent Garden, which celebrates both Berlin and London’s cultural identities through its design, atmosphere and unique F&B offering.”

“His industry experience and knowledge of London and its ever-evolving hotel scene will help to position Hotel AMANO Covent Garden as one of the city’s most exciting new destinations for 2022.”

The Berlin-based AMANO group already operates a number of hotels, restaurants and bars across Germany, including eight hotels in Berlin, as well as one in Munich and one in Dusseldorf.

Prices at Hotel AMANO Covent Garden will start from approximately £139 per night.
