Durham-based Redworth Hall Hotel has benefitted from a £150,000 cash injection transforming its Great Hall in time for a summer of weddings.

The property was acquired by current owner Cairn Group in 2016, which has partnered with local suppliers on all decoration, electrical and restoration works to return the hotel.

Changes to The Great Hall, which dates back to 1693, include refreshed décor with wall panels, wallpaper, original oak floor and the huge stone fireplaces have been sympathetically restored.

As part of the new interior scheme the two entrance lounges have been fully refurbished, and the adjacent ladies powder room now features sage-coloured porcelain tiles and a bevelled glass vanity area.

Vince Johnson, general manager at Redworth Hall Hotel, said: “At Redworth Hall Hotel we are immensely proud of the property’s vast history, which has been expertly preserved and uplifted as part of our Great Hall’s recent refurbishment.

“The works have significantly enhanced our functions offering, and we’re looking forward to showing off our new look at our next wedding open evening which offers the perfect opportunity to see the hall set up for an occasion.”

The Great Hall can host up to 110 guests during the ceremony and wedding breakfast, and up to 150 as part of the evening celebrations.
