Here is an exclusive sneak peek at the new £15m Shankly Hotel in Preston, inspired by the legendary Liverpool manager and due to open its doors in April 2019.
The former Grade-II listed post office building, which is 114 years old, will be transformed into a 60-bed boutique hotel and spa and become the second Shankly Hotel to be launched by owners Signature Living, joining the debut property in Liverpool.
The Shankly Hotel Preston will feature curated artefacts and memorabilia complete with photographs and items connected to Bill Shankly’s time as a player, specifically with Preston North End.
The design concept was created by Chris Carline, the grandson of Bill, and is inspired by the 1930s and 40s.
The hotel reception, bar, restaurant and public areas will be themed around a 1930’s First Class rail carriage with this concept running through the property.
Bill Shankly signed for Preston FC in 1930 whilst on board a first class rail carriage between Carlisle and Preston.
The design theme and hues for the bedroom interiors will feature softer pastel shades, egg shell blues to fresh whites, oak wooden features and a hint of gold gilt edge detailing.
Ornamental mirrors, lavish rugs, upholstered boarding, soft furnishings with a nod to the elegant art deco style of the period.
