Angelina Chua has been appointed as general manager at Sopwell House Hotel & Spa in St Albans, a four-star boutique hotel owned and operated by AB Hotels.
She joins from her role at the helm of Stapleford Park Hotel, where she was responsible for the strategic commercial and operational direction of the hotel, spa and country club for six years.
Chua replaces Thomas Garlich who left earlier this year.
She boasts more than 20 years’ experience in hospitality, with positions such as director of operations at Marriott Hanbury Manor Hotel and Country Club; director of food & beverage at the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel and corporate sales and event manager at the JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Chua commented: “I am very excited to join Sopwell House Hotel & Spa at such a momentous time for the hotel. Our 16 Mews Suites are completed, the conference rooms have been refreshed and our new spa will be launching in spring 2019. I am looking forward to running one of the most prestigious hotels in the UK where we are dedicated to delivering exceptional service to all our guests.”
Next year will herald the opening of a new £12m spa at Sopwell House, which once complete, will bring a dramatic revenue increase to the business, which already turns over £15m.
