The Beaumont is to introduce a new range of guest amenities that is 95% free from plastic.
In early 2020, in collaboration with D. R. Harris, London’s oldest pharmacy and purveyor of grooming and skincare lines, and La Bottega, The Beaumont will introduce an innovative collection of D. R. Harris toiletries, establishing a first amongst North European hotels.
The original hotel to launch the D. R. Harris range to guests when it opened in September 2014, The Beaumont, comprising 73 bedrooms, currently uses almost 32,000 single-use plastic bottles of shampoo, shower gel, hair conditioner and body lotion per year.
With the introduction of the new range, the number of plastic bottles used will be reduced to zero.
And any left-over toiletries, plus all the packaging can be repurposed and recycled.
The hotel’s new range by D. R. Harris will comprise a solid 45g shampoo bar and a solid 45g body wash bar, as well as a body cream and a hair conditioner in fully recycled and recyclable aluminium tubes, and a 70g soap, all lightly scented with rose geranium.
“It is no longer acceptable for the hotel industry to continue to pollute the world with all this single-use plastic in the name of luxury. Harris and La Bottega we have arrived at such an original and uncompromising solution for our bathroom amenities,” comments Jannes Soerensen, The Beaumont’s general manager.
