The Castle at Taunton sees ‘School of Hospitality’ alumni return as general manager

Ronan Hunter, a graduate of The Castle at Taunton’s ‘School of Hospitality’ has returned to the hotel as its new general manager.

Hunter first joined The Castle in 2003 as a waiter.

He left three years later to gain experience at the likes of Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck in Bray and Celtic Manor Resort.

The four-star Castle has been run by the Chapman family for the last 70 years. The property is home to 44 bedrooms and the Castle Bow Restaurant, run by chef Liam Finnegan.

Hunter comments: “The Castle has always been renowned for its standards of hospitality and commitment to sourcing & using local produce, which is as important today as ever in our kitchens.”

Nick Chapman, chairman of the Castle Hotel said: “We are delighted to have appointed Ronan as general manager. He retains the core values of true hospitality and service. It is an amazing story that he has returned to the hotel after spending the early years of his career here.”
