The Coniston Hotel Country Estate and Spa, near Skipton, has reported a record £1.2m turnover in wedding bookings this year.
The luxury Yorkshire hotel, which opened in 1998, has welcomed over 12,000 wedding guests in the last 12 months and has seen an increase of 11% in wedding sales from April 2017 to April 2018.
A total of 104 weddings were booked, 70% of which were local Yorkshire couples, with a steady rise in interest from wider UK locations and abroad travelling to marry at the venue.
The Coniston, owned by the Bannister family, recently expanded its wedding offering to include a stand-alone marquee with a capacity of 300.
Louise Bolton, managing director of The Coniston Hotel, added “A lot of our wedding bookings come from people who have been a guest at a wedding we have hosted which is the biggest compliment to the team. But we also spend a lot of time at wedding fairs showcasing what we have to offer and meeting potential couples face to face.”
The Coniston is to open three new holiday cottages with a £350k investment on its 1,400-acre estate over the next few months, adding Lowlands and Fogga Farm to its offering.
Simon Bolsover joined to take up the role of executive chef in February this year, in a bid to bolster the property’s F&B portfolio.
The hotel opened its new 16,500 sq ft, £2.4m spa following nine months of development in 2015, overlooking the estate and its 24-acre lake.
