The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa in Bolton Abbey has announced the appointment of Peter Howarth at head chef at The Burlington Restaurant.
Howarth will take up his new position in November, following his most recent role as head chef at The Samling in the Lake District.
He will replace Paul Leonard who is leaving The Devonshire Arms next month to join The Forest Side in Grasmere, part of Wildsmith Hotels, following the departure of Kevin Tickle.
Leonard had been at ‘The Dev’ since 2017 and secured 4 AA Rosettes for the restaurant.
Incoming chef Howarth also boasts experience at the likes of Gidleigh Park and The Latymer, both of which held two Michelin stars and five AA Rosettes during his time there.
He has also worked at two Michelin-starred Winteringham Fields, and the Michelin-starred Longueville Manor, Jersey.
Howarth commented on his new role: “For me it’s like coming home, after having been at The Devonshire Arms during my early career, it’s now come full circle to be here now. I’m able to bring the experience I have enjoyed of travelling overseas, as well as working with some of the UK’s finest restaurants; it’s an exciting time and it just feels right.”
