Carole Bamford, the Founder of the Daylesford Organic Farmshops chain and the Bamford brand of women’s products, has opened a new pub with rooms in the Cotswolds called The Fox at Oddington.

The 16th century building has been renovated by Bamford to add six guest bedrooms above the restored pub, which serves traditional dishes made with local produce.

Every bedroom at the property is suite-style, complete with a living area that has sofas, armchairs, desks and books for guests to read.

The interiors are inspired by countryside life with each room individually themed around local flora and fauna. ‘The Den’ on the ground floor features a private terrace looking out over the walled garden, while the ‘Wild Meadow’ includes floral prints by Hugo Guinness and overlooks the wildflower rooftop, a living roof planted with a broad mix of British wildflowers, annuals and herbs.

‘Hunting Lodge’ is a spacious family room with twin beds in the adjacent living area. Natural materials bring a country feel into the rooms, with wall colours and materials reflecting the warm tones of the Cotswolds. Fabrics in the bedrooms are from Nila – a non-profit organisation dedicated to honouring and preserving the natural dye and handloom traditions of rural India, founded by Bamford.

Head Chef Alan Gleeson has created a seasonal menu celebrating the ingredients from Daylesford Organic and Wootton Estate, as well as British growers and producers. Highlights from the menu include starters of wood-fired violet artichokes with salsa verde, burrata, broad beans, peas, mint and dill, and mains of Chargrilled chateaubriand of dry-aged Hereford beef- watercress with bearnaise, or wood-fired whole Cornish Day boat Turbot with jersey royals and seaweed butter.

Sustainability is at the heart of the renovation, with local, natural, and reclaimed and recycled materials used wherever possible, including wool insulation and paint containing natural pigments.

The pub is powered by 100% renewable energy and works to a minimum standard of zero to landfill, partnering with suppliers who ensure waste is converted to energy and biofuels.

Rooms are supplied with Bamford products, made from natural and organic ingredients and packaged in fully recyclable plastic bottles.

The Fox at Oddington is open now, with rooms from £225 per night including breakfast, Market Garden or Farm Tour at Daylesford Farm (on Thursdays) and 10% off at Daylesford across the farm shop, Bamford Wellness Spa and The Cookery School.
