The Hari appoints new commercial director to head up sales and marketing drive


The Hari, London has announced the appointment of Michelle Wharton as commercial director, sales and marketing.

The hotel, which is the first to launch from the brand which is owned by international hospitality group The Hariela Group, has welcomed Wharton from her role of director of sales and marketing at London’s Marriott County Hall, where she was for the last three years.

The Hari launched in Belgravia in August this year, as a replacement for the former Belgraves, a Thompson hotel.

Home to 85 bedrooms, including 14 suites, the new boutique hotel is the first look at The Hari brand, which Wharton will help develop globally.

Wharton has over 10 years of international sales and marketing experience in the hospitality industry, with an expertise in supporting top hotel brands during the pre-opening phase and when they are repositioning.

Prior to her role at London Marriott County Hall, Wharton held a number of positions across Asia; she was cluster director of sales & marketing for the Radisson Blu Phuket and opened the Radisson Blu Bangkok. In addition, she was director of sales and marketing for JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, Thailand and cluster director of business development at Marriot Hotels, Shanghai, China.

Speaking about the appointment, Andrew Coney, general manager of The Hari says: “Michelle has a wealth of sales and marketing experience and a proven track record of building and re-positioning top hotel brands in the UK and across the world. As the Hari rests on the cusp of global expansion, we’re delighted that Michelle is bringing her knowledge and expertise to this role.”
