John and Carolyn Armstrong are celebrating 40 years of ownership of the Cornish hotel and self-catering village, with the development of The Aqua Club, which is due for completion in spring 2020.

The Aqua Club will comprise five pools, a sun terrace and new restaurant, The Deck.

Three pools will be created inside The Aqua Club: a 25 metre training pool, a hydrotherapy pool, and a children’s pool for families staying at The Headland, while an outdoor infinity pool will also be introduced.

John Armstrong, owner of The Headland said: “The Aqua Club will bring top-of-the-range facilities to our guests. As our accommodation provision has grown, existing facilities are in high demand, particularly the spa and restaurants during high season. The Aqua Club will take The Headland into the next decade and beyond, providing the luxury experience that the destination has become well-known for.”

Construction of The Aqua Club, which is located on the site of three former tennis courts between The Headland Hotel and its five-star self-catering cottages, started in October 2017.

Work currently underway on The Aqua Club is being undertaken by JE Stacey of Holsworthy in Devon, with SCB Groundworks of Redruth having completed the substructures and enabling work.
