The Independent Hotel Show, which took place on October 18 & 19 at Olympia, has announced a 12% increase in visitor numbers this year, and the busiest first day ever as 61% of exhibitors snapping up their place for 2017 already.
Over 6,300 of the UK’s independent hoteliers networked with peers, negotiated new deals with 300 premium suppliers and attended topical seminars which highlighted the opportunities the industry is presented with today.
On day one, the Audience with Jeremy King session was jam packed, as visitors were eager to hear from one of hospitality’s most successful names and creator of The Beaumont.
Breaking records elsewhere at the show, almost 4,000 votes were cast in the annual Independent Hotel Show Awards in association with Sky.
The awards for Independent Hotelier and Outstanding New Hotel were bestowed upon Kate Levin, general manager, The Capital and The Laslett respectively.
Other highlights of the show included the Power Breakfast powered by Quinyx to open day two of the show.
The invitation-only event saw leading industry figures Andrew Stembridge, managing director, Chewton Glen & Clivedon House, Anthony Lee, CEO, Great Northern Hotel, Richard Ball, executive chairman of Calcot Hotels and Harry Cragoe, owner, The Gallivant reflect on the rapidly changing industry and predict trends for 2017.
Miranda Martin, show director commented: “We are absolutely thrilled with this year’s Independent Hotel Show. It has surpassed itself with record attendees, voting numbers and 61% of exhibitors already committed to returning in 2017. For two days, there was an audible buzz in the air with the negotiation of business deals and passionate discussions about the industry, set against a dynamic backdrop of product and service providers dedicated to the development of independent hotels today. We are already looking forward to bringing together even more thought leaders, experts and quality suppliers on 17 and 18 October next year.”
