A new BBC series is to go behind the scenes at The Shankly Hotel in Liverpool, to document how the luxury £12m property is ‘a portrait of modern Britain with diversity and equality’.
Produced by SpunGold TV and commissioned by the BBC, ‘A Very Northern Hotel’ will showcase what goes on through the lobby and down the corridors of the hotel, following the general manager and staff as they go about their daily jobs.
The hotel’s top-floor party rooms, which are individually-themed communal rooms designed to cater for large groups, will also feature.
Rooms include the LP Laurent Perrier styled Champagne room, which sleeps 24 people and comes complete with its own mosaic pool, private bar, and kitchen and whirlpool bath.
The ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ rooms take inspiration from the Australian jungle with lions, tigers, exotic plants and flowers in tribute to the cult TV series ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here’.
Kris Mochrie MD for Signature Living which owns The Shankly Hotel said: “We are delighted that the BBC and Spungold chose the Shankly Hotel for its new documentary series. We all have a fascination with what goes on inside hotels and this documentary will give viewers a fun sneak peek inside the world of the Shankly Hotel and how our guests like to party and celebrate in style with memorable occasions and defining moments in their lives.”
The Shankly Hotel in Liverpool opened in 2015 in tribute to the Liverpool FC football manager Bill Shankly OBE.
The hotel is co-owned by Signature Living hoteliers Lawrence and Katie Kenwright and Christopher William Shankly Carline – the Grandson of Bill Shankly OBE.
