The Tamburlaine in Cambridge has submitted a planning application to increase its bedroom capacity by four.
The property on Station Road in the city was acquired by Dalata Hotel Group in November 2019 and signed a deal to operate the hotel under a 30-year lease, marking the third UK property in its portfolio.
Now in a proposal submitted to Cambridge City Council, the venue is bidding to relocate its gym in order to create four additional bedrooms.
The linen room on the ground floor is also earmarked for relocation to make way for one room.
If approved, the hotel would comprise 160 guest bedrooms once complete.
The Tamburlaine was opened in 2017 by owners O’Callaghan Hotel Group and marked the first UK venture for the Irish Group.
When it was sold last year, plans were laid out to convert the property into Clayton Hotel Cambridge in the ‘coming months’ and it is thought this application could be the first move towards that.
