Thieves broke into the cellar of luxury hotel Lime Wood early on Monday morning stealing around £65k worth of wine.
The perpetrators managed to get into the cellar of the five-star property, part of Robin Hutson’s Home Grown Hotels, around 3.38am on the 11 November and take approximately 80 bottles of wine, a spokesperson for Lime Wood confirmed to BH.
A statement from the hotel sent to BH, read: “On Monday 11th November at 3.38am there was a theft of high value wines from Lime Wood. The appropriate authorities have been alerted and a police investigation is underway. Approximately 80 bottles have been taken with a book value of around £65,000.”
On Facebook New Forest police appealed to anyone offered “high quality wine at a bargain price” to notify them.
“If you have any information about this theft please call 101 and quote the crime number 44190405894,” the post added.
Home Grown Hotels includes six The Pig hotels and is headed by CEO Robin Hutson, part-owned by multi-billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-founder and chairman of global chemicals company Ineos.
