Following the news of Paul Bayliss’s departure from Carden Park Hotel, it’s been revealed that he has been replaced by former resort general manager Hamish Ferguson, who steps back into the role.
Boutique Hotelier reported yesterday that Bayliss had left his position at the four-star property in Broxton, Cheshire, after less than two years in the role.
He took over from Hamish Ferguson in September 2016 who had previously been general manager for 20 years and left for a role as executive director with the Professional Golfers’ Association.
It’s now emerged that Ferguson is back at Carden Park, and has been for the last four months following Bayliss’s departure, of which the hotel declined to comment on when approached by Boutique Hotelier.
Ferguson was part of the original team who opened Carden Park Hotel in 1996 when it was operated by De Vere and was at the helm when the property went independent in 2014.
The hotel then underwent a £5m refurbishment, with significant improvements made to bedrooms, public areas, golf courses and the spa as well as conference facilities.
