UK’s Clean Linen Services has been acquired by US laundry giant Alsco, one of the world’s largest textile rental and laundry companies.
Clean is one of the UK’s biggest independent laundry businesses, supplying over 5,500 customers throughout the hotel, restaurant, catering, food manufacturing, automotive, engineering and pharmaceutical industries.
The company was founded in 1886 as Maidenhead District Laundry Company and now employs 1,400 employees.
As a result of the acquisition, the family-owned Alsco will expand its European network to England for the first time with seven strategic locations across the country.
Founded in 1889, Alsco employs over 18,000 people, services more than 350,000 customers in 13 countries and currently operates 170 laundry plants worldwide. Alsco’s headquarters are in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
Jason Miller, CEO of Clean says: “This is an excellent development for both Clean and Alsco. Over recent years, we have grown Clean to be the UK’s largest independent textile rental and laundry services company. Joining the Alsco family is great news for our customers and for all the employees and business partners who have worked so hard over the years to make Clean what it is today. Like Clean they are a long-established family company with whom we share the same values and the cultural synergies between the two organisations are excellent.”
Kevin and Robert Steiner, co-CEOs of Alsco, comment: “We look forward to working with Clean, assisting their progress and enjoying a great future together.”
