Verve Hotels is currently transforming its latest acquisition in Diss to reopen The Scole Inn later this year as the newest boutique addition to the group’s growing portfolio in the Midlands.
The group, which currently owns hotels in London, Cambridge, Peterborough and Bedford, acquired the Grade-I listed pub earlier this month, with the Scole Inn for an undisclosed amount to Strandpark Properties Ltd, trading company of Verve Hotels.
Managing director of Verve Hotels, Mark Reuben, said: “Driving up to Scole Inn, I knew this was a special property, but walking up the magnificent staircase I knew I had to buy this sad hotel. “The paint had worn away, damp stains lined the ceilings, crumbling plasterwork, wood splinters, old broken furniture, no internet or telephone access and the list goes on.”
The Scole Inn dates back to 1655 and has many original features. The property is home to 22 bedrooms, plus two function rooms and a bar.
The property is currently closed for the refurbishment, with Verve Hotels aiming to reopen the hotel in September or October.
Debbie Wright has joined as general manager, with all the staff being retained.
The Scole Inn will join Verve Bedford, The Hub Hotel in Peterborough, Stilton Lodge in Peterborough, plus Park Lane apartments in London, in the portfolio.
