Grade-II listed Talbot Hotel in Stourbridge, West Midlands, has been sold to a new owner after a major refurbishment and ‘strong business growth’.
Westbourne Leisure has offloaded the site to an experienced hospitality operator based in Birmingham, Rosevine Ltd.
The Talbot Hotel was sold as part of Westbourne Leisure’s strategic move to focus on other hospitality assets within its portfolio.
Edgbaston-based Rosevine Services Ltd is owned by businessman Kuljinder Singh Pahal.
Dating back to the 1630s, the Talbot Hotel is located in a prime position on the high street of Stourbridge.
The sale was facilitated by the Hotels team at Colliers.
The property features 57 bedrooms that were recently refurbished, a restaurant as well as a large ballroom for hosting events.
The hotel reopened in the summer of 2023 following an extensive refurbishment and has seen steady improvement in its business performance month on month.
Commenting on the acquisition, the new owner said: “The Talbot Hotel’s longevity and central location in the town, and potential for growth made it an exciting addition to our portfolio. We are looking forward to taking the reins of such an iconic property in Stourbridge building on the hard work that’s already been done.”
Josh Sullivan, associate director in Colliers’ Hotels Agency team handled the sale. He said, “The process was handled on an off-market basis, and we received significant interest from several operators. The Talbot offered a large quantum of bedrooms in a compelling trading location at a sensible price point. Despite the economic headwinds, we are continuing to witness strong demand for large provincial hotels, particularly in the Midlands, due to the dearth of opportunities. This sale takes us to approximately 41 hotels completed since January with many more due to transact before Christmas.”
