Whatley Manor, Askham Hall and Adare Manor lead the charge for Michelin stars

The Dining Room at Whatley Manor has scooped its second Michelin Star, continuing chef Niall Keating’s winning streak since he joined the hotel in 2017.

The announcement was made at last night’s Michelin Stars big reveal, where restaurants up and down the country were recognised for their culinary excellence, including a number of boutique hotels.

Whatley Manor was awarded its second star, two years after being given its first with Keating at the helm of the kitchen. The young chef was also named Michelin’s European Young Chef of the Year in 2018.

He comments: “This is the dream. My team are so special to me – and I am proud that together we have achieved this second star. They work so hard to support me and help create a great customer experience at Whatley Manor.”

Other hotel successes to receive their first Stars were the Cottage in the Wood in the Lake District, a four-star 17th century hotel in Keswick, and Allium at Askham Hall, with head chef Richard Swale saying: “The Michelin star is an acknowledgement of our desire to produce plates of food which are completely in harmony with nature.”

The new Allium restaurant at the hotel was unveiled in 2018.

Da Terra, the hotel inside London’s Town Hall Hotel was also commended with its first Star and The Oak Room at Adare Manor in Ireland was awarded with a Star, two years after reopening with head chef Michael Tweedie at the helm.

Acclaimed chef patron Michael Wignall’s The Angel, Hetton gastropub with rooms also claimed its first Michelin Star.

Luxury hotel and private island, Isle of Eriska, was awarded a Star for its restaurant on the west coast of Scotland, led by chef Graeme Cheevers.

The Star is the third accolade the hotel, managed by luxury hotel management company Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI), has received in two weeks, after winning five stars and three Rosettes at the recent AA Hospitality Awards.
