Womb-inspired bedrooms designed to help guests ‘sleep like a baby’ come to London

New bedrooms inspired by the experience inside the womb have opened at a serviced apartment in London.

The new ‘Zed Rooms’, which promise to help guests ‘sleep like a baby’, have been introduced at a property in Shoreditch as part of a collaboration between mattress manufacturer Simba and serviced apartment provider Cuckooz.

Experts spent nine months developing the apartments that feature a ‘Woom’ bedroom with cocoon-like bed, inspired by the safety and snugness of the womb.

With muted lighting, soft pink walls and Simba’s Hybrid mattress, each Woom bedroom within The Zed Rooms has been designed to encourage positivity, relaxation and REM-rich sleep.

The Zed Rooms are curated around the concepts – Dream, Live and Cleanse – with no televisions or ticking clocks, and blackout blinds and sound-absorbing curtains, to help mute the brain’s ‘red alert’ status when sleeping somewhere new.

Each apartment also comes complete with yoga mats and meditation sessions via the iPad’s Calm app, while the furniture’s rounded edges and softened corners mimic the sensation of bed, with rocking chairs also on hand.

Co-founder of Cuckooz, Fabienne O’Neill, commented: “At Cuckooz we strive to be at the forefront of innovation within the hospitality sector and to push the boundaries when it comes to guest experience. Design and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do, which is why the collaboration with Simba and Studio Stilton was such a natural progression for us.”
