Yorkshire hotel racks up record run of sales

A family-run Yorkshire hotel has recorded its most successful six month period following the addition of a multi-million pound spa and luxury cottage.

The award-winning Coniston Hotel, spa and country estate has posted a turnover of more than £3.6 million for the period January to June.

The Coniston is now on track to post a record financial year of £7.9m, from April 2017 to March 2018. This prediction expects a 10% increase on the previous year.

The hotel, which is owned by the Bannister family, opened a £2.4m spa at the end of 2015 and launched The Thack, a luxury holiday cottage for up to 10 guests, in nearby Bell Busk at the end of last year.

Nick Bannister, director, told the Craven Herald: “Over the past six months we have further invested into our hotel rooms, undertaken several refurbishment programmes across the hotel and completed a Wi-Fi upgrade. We’ve also invested heavily in our people. In addition to rolling out a new set of core values, we’ve seen 210 hours of training for our front of house staff and four members of our team have attained a Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level two qualification.”

The site, which has seen growth in its accommodation, corporate, weddings, food and beverage, spa and outdoor pursuits operations, employs 200 members of staff.
