Cash injection leads to expansion at family-run boutique in Bedfordshire

A Bedfordshire-based hotel, restaurant and wedding venue has kicked off an ambitious expansion project after locking in a six-figure loan from HSBC.

The Sharnbook in Bedford will officially complete the works in September, with the first phase, which included 12 new bedrooms and a lounge area, now signed off and finished.

Work will now begin on the remaining seven bedrooms, a private dining room, as well as a hair and beauty salon and conference centre.

An early summer completion is envisaged for the whole project, with an opening by 1 June, while the salon will open on 1 September 2016.

The family-run business will be recruiting an additional ten members of staff in the next year to support the new venture, including three senior management posts.

General manager Ciro Ciampi said: “HSBC’s support has enabled us to extend our purpose-built property, marking the start of an exciting new stage in the growth of our business.

“We’re now able to offer guests a wider variety of services and facilities as well as increase the number of guests we can accommodate.”
