Clermont Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Charles Oak to the position of general manager at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London.

Oak joins the team from The Londoner, where he spent six years as hotel director and helped to establish the property within London’s luxury hotel scene.

Previously in his career, Oak has also served in leadership roles at a number of highly-regarded properties, including The May Fair Hotel, Heckfield Place, The Savoy, Gleneagles, Plaza Hotel New York, as well as Skibo Castle Scotland and Hotel De Crillon Paris.

Early in his career, Oak completed a mini-MBA: the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) at Templeton College, Oxford University, laying the foundation for his strategic and commercial leadership.

Speaking of his appointment, Charles Oak commented: “The Royal Horseguards Hotel is a truly iconic property with an extraordinary legacy, and I am thrilled to have joined at such an exciting time with plenty of projects in the pipeline.

“I look forward to working with the team to enhance its rich heritage, deliver exceptional guest experiences and elevate the hotel’s reputation as a leading destination in the heart of London.”

Located along the River Thames in Whitehall, The Royal Horseguards Hotel first opened in 1884. It is known for its striking French château-style architecture, deep political and cultural connections, and views of the city.

The property is operated by Clermont Hotel Group, the largest hotel owner-operator in London.

Clermont encompasses three distinct brands and the firm’s diverse portfolio spans 16 hotels and over 5,000 bedrooms, as well as 120 meeting and event spaces across the Capital.
