A new hotel could open in Shropshire after developers submitted a proposal to transform a Grade-II listed building into a new luxury hospitality business.

Nazmo Ltd is bidding to create a new 12-bedroom hotel, bar and restaurant on the site of a 19th century Regency villa, Neach Hill in Donington.

The development would also include expansion of a spa and gym in the agricultural buildings on site.

Also proposed in the project is the construction of a 46-bedroom accommodation building designed around a courtyard.

The hotel accommodation would be accompanied by 58 residential units of two- to six-bedroom houses for both open market and rental occupancy, as well as a glamping area in the woodland at the northern edge of the site.

A statement filed with Shropshire Council on behalf of the applicant said: “The design of all the elements of the proposed development have been given considerable consideration.

“The repair and conversion of the house has been designed in such a way as to keep interventions to a minimum with any extensions designed to reflect the age and character of the asset.

“The additional accommodation is arranged around a courtyard designed to appear as a classical stable block and is sited adjacent to the ‘Bottom Yard’ in such a way as to have minimal impact on the house and adjacent woodland being lower and subservient.”
