The owners of The Bath Hotel in Lynmouth have acquired their second property as they look to grow their footprint in the village.

Carly Glover and family have taken over the Village Inn Lynmouth, an 18th century pub with rooms close to the hotel on the harbourside in the North Devon coast.

Located on Lynmouth Street, the Village Inn comprises nine bedrooms, a bar, dining area and outdoor courtyard garden.

Cavin Mpofu, general manager of The Bath Hotel, commented on the acquisition: “The acquisition of the Village Inn was central to our growth strategy in the village. This decision was rooted in our unwavering commitment to local stewardship. In a landscape dominated by brewery-owned corporate entities, our status as a family-owned and ‘free of tie’ establishment empowers us to champion locally based suppliers and brands, fortifying the economic fabric of our community.

“By expanding our presence in the village, The Bath Hotel aims to catalyse economic growth, create employment opportunities, and foster collaborations within the local supply chain.

“Our expansion efforts extend beyond mere business transactions; they are a testament to our enduring commitment to nurturing the prosperity of Lynmouth and its residents,” added Mpofu.

The Bath Hotel has been in the same family for three generations.

The hotel is a restored Victorian boutique hotel comprising 20 rooms and suites, many of which boast sea views.

The business has recently completed an eight-year refurbishment programme on all rooms, outlets, and public areas. The culmination of this project is the expansion of its current leisure offering to include meetings, weddings, and events.

The hotel is also home to a 60-seater restaurant, Aubrey Cocktail Bar and The Ancient Mariner pub.

General manager Cavin was recently named as a Business Leader in the 2024 Power List.
