He has already introduced a new menu for the Alexandra, championing the best of Dorset produce in the new Local to Lyme selection.

Ammonite is open daily for lunch and dinner and is situated in the new Orangery, which was completed in 2018.

Chatfield also oversees the Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant afternoon tea on the terrace or if preferred in one of the restaurants.

Kathryn Haskins, director of Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant, said “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Chris Chatfield to the Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant – just in time for a wonderful winter season. Chris is a brilliantly talented chef and we are already seeing the fruits of his labour, with much more to come.”

Chris Chatfield, head chef, commented, “I can’t think of a better place to take the reins than the Alexandra. There is so much scope for both restaurants, and just a wealth of produce from the local area; I can’t wait to really put the spotlight on the food here.”
